Motherhood Mondays: Potty Training!

So tomorrow morning we have decided to no longer put Grant into diapers. He has been going on the potty really well for a couple months now, but we were unsure how it would go leaving the house without a diaper on. So Tom and I talked and we are just going cold turkey and will see what happens. Grant is not dry in the morning, so we will still put him in something at bedtime, but hopefully the day time will continue to go smoothly. Hopefully my laundry pile won't grow at an insane rate! Grant loves to be naked and wear his cars underwear around the house....I might need to buy more undies!!!!

For those of you with boys (or girls is guess too), Grant has no trouble going pee-pee on the potty, but when he needs to poop he goes and hides and if we try to get him to sit on the potty, he just screams and panics. He really likes to stand while he is pooping.......anyone had this experience? Any ideas??

  1. No ideas here - we have been postponing potty training (well, Alex is not yet 2, but he'd rather disassemble the potty chair and wear the bowl on his head than sit on it). I have dreams of him being potty trained before baby B arrives, but I don't think it will happen... Anyway, my mom used a reward system with us (M&Ms)... and it worked with everyone except my little brother. She finally had to threaten to buy pink pull-ups. And then she did. And it worked like a charm, lol. I think M&Ms or gummy bears would work with Alex if he were a little older. I wish I could send him to potty training camp, lol.

  3. I'm having the same problem with the two and half year old (boy/girl) twins I nanny. First of all, it doesn't help that the parents are not trying to potty train them. The little boy likes to run and hide every time he has to poop, and when I try getting him to sit on the potty he panics and screams. I'm sorry your son is doing that, but it's comforting to me to know the little boy I nanny isn't alone. I'll be anxious to read what ends up working for you :)

  4. Wish I had help for you, but I had it way too easy with Kate. She honestly potty trained herself - begged me actually. Anway, probably will never happen again. Good luck!
